On Thursday, November 23, 2023, Lakeside University College, Ghana (LUCG) welcomed Professor Khairat Sulemana, a distinguished Professor of Educational Psychology at the College of Education of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU). This esteemed visit marked a significant occasion for LUCG, fostering an environment of intellectual exchange and collaboration.
During their insightful discussions, Professor Sulemana and the LUCG leadership team explored the potential for leveraging existing resources at LUCG to introduce innovative programs in Business Education, Science Education, IT, and Computer Science Education. These programs would be designed to equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively instruct these disciplines in basic and senior high schools.
The introduction of these specialized teacher training programs was identified as a strategic approach to enhancing student enrollment at LUCG. By addressing the demand for qualified teachers in these critical fields, LUCG can attract a broader range of students seeking quality education in these areas.
Furthermore, the discussions delved into the prospects of establishing programs for training nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals. Recognizing the crucial role of these professions in promoting public health, LUCG envisions developing comprehensive training programs to address the growing need for skilled healthcare workers.
The meeting was graced by the presence of LUCG representatives, including Dr. Mohammed-Sani Abdulai, the President of LUCG; Dr. Rita Boateng, the Dean of the School of Business and Technology; Prof. Gamal Sarhan, the Dean of the School of Engineering; Dr. Aidatu Abubakar, the Head of the Department of Marketing; Dr. Abdul-Rahim Adada, International Relations and Associate Director of CfPD; Mr. Ibrahim Kwetso, the Finance Officer; Mr. Asass Ali Abass, Assistant Registrar, Admin; and Mr. Seth Owusu, Head of Marketing and Sales.
