-Spotlight On Innocent Ladies Allah used to Impact Our Community

“Heroes live many years after their deaths. So we should let goodness live with their souls.”

In the Harmattan of 2016, after LUCG as MIST started operation, I doubled as the Dean of SOBAT and a lecturer of UPSA. In my Business Ethics class, I observed these young Muslim students, who always sat together and occasionally be the source of the class whisperers. As part of my teaching philosophy, I often gave students 15 minutes breaks for networking, reminiscent of Cigarette breaks in an office. During one of such breaks, my interaction with them became the source of “one thing led” to frequent campus visits to MIST’s campus.

In fact, the ladies ended up becoming active permanent members of our community. Seven of them did not only do internships and externships in my office, they became a family to my students and I. They provided mentorships and friendships to our students, which enriched campus life significantly. Whether it was a birthday party, extracurricular activities, or visit of Chief Imam and Vice President, they were there to serve.

They also served as Ambassadors of the new university then, helping in the building of our brand. In fact they introduced to me Farida, my former Assistant, who turned out to be the daughter of my aunt, the Principal of Islamic Girls SHS and the Steady Eddie of LUCG.

Today most of them have made a lot of progress in life. Two are in the US. The others are gainfully employed and joyfully married.

Today, in our reflection we express our gratitude to these wonderful volunteers . May their Blessings from Allah get to them without interception by their enemies.
